The Tamopan Japanese Persimmon is one of the largest persimmon trees, making it suitable as a fruit-producing shade tree. It produces unique, tomato-shaped, red-orange colored fruit with a distinguishing ridge that gives the appearance of a hat. Fruit is astringent but turns sweet when fully ripe.
